GAH, this makes my head hurt but i cant stop
Three videos in one day
Sadly they took 2 weeks to complete, i just happened to upload them all on the same day, so dont expect this kind of bombardment of things every day, or in fact every week.
Also something id like to say about this film, WATCH IT FULL SCREEN, also vimeo has somehow made it softer or something. The original file is much more harsh with its flashes, which is how its meant to be. So when watching please keep these things in mind!!
Ermmm what do i want to say about this. Well its an initial experiment, from a new idea im developing, although clearly it is quite similar to the others, but yeh, hopefully as i develop this particular idea it will become more clear. Or it will continue to all look the same and i will have to make some rubbish up about what i wanted it to mean. Either way...
Once you pop you just cant stop
Or in my case, once you start doing and organising work you just cant stop. But it just doesn't have the same ring to it i fear.
This was an idea that i started to develop from the previous experiments with the grass. I wanted to continue expriemting with the more natural and organic appearance of the grass and leaves but wanted the film to have more meaning to it then just lookign pretty.
So i started looking at jourenys, and using the film as a way to document the journey. This film sequence is a representation of the walk i take from my boyfriends house back to mine. So it is a journey i do fairly often.
Overall i am quite happy with this idea/experiment and may decide to develop it further at some point, but at the moment i have had some other ideas about film and want to see where i can get to with them first.
HUZZAR
Finally some work to actually show! so really this was done last week, but i had no enthusisasm to actually edit and upload it till today.
But here it is. CLICK
(see this is why i liek tumblr, they let me actually put the film in the post, not just a link, but as far as i can tell this place wants to me to upload it directly onto here, well no go away. so links will have to do im afraid)
Basically these were 2 seperate experiments i did sticking grass on 35mm. It was a starting point to see what effects could be achieved sticking different things to the films. The first experiment was not very satisfacotry, but the second half was much better, simply by bleaching the middle of each frame out, rather then the whole strip.
These experiments are very much in the style of Stan Brakahge, who is an artist i love more then just a little bit, so yeh im aware they are similar, that was kind of the point!
